Preparing For A 6 Month Rehab Or A 90 Day Addiction Treatment Program

by | Dec 22, 2021

Addiction can be a challenging and isolating struggle, but it is important to remember that you are not alone. If you are seeking addiction treatment in Louisville, Kentucky, there is hope.

When it comes to drug and alcohol abuse, there are a lot of options available. If you have spoken with a rehabilitation center and have decided that staying with them is the best course of action, then you will need to prepare yourself for the stay and break your addictions.

What is the difference between programs?

The main difference between the programs is the length of time that you take part in them. With a 90-day program, these are designed to help a person who is addicted and needs to break the addiction. On the other hand, a longer program is suitable for people who have started to suffer from health complaints because of their addiction. When you are using drugs and alcohol for extended periods of time, you may develop some health issues. These can be anything from liver damage to brain damage, and even mobility issues. If you have these types of complaints, then a longer stay will be necessary as you will need additional support to get as healthy as you can again.

What happens during the program?

Staying at a center for your recovery can seem frightening, mainly because you don’t know what to expect.

  • Check-in – You will be asked some questions so that the staff can start to make a plan for your treatment.
  • Detox – After you have checked in, the first step is to put your body through detox, This is a difficult step and can be painful for some people due to the level of addiction. If you are experiencing pain, you can be given medication to help ease the symptoms.
  • Therapy – therapy in rehab comes in many different forms. You will be asked to take part in individual and group sessions. During these sessions, you will work on your triggers and how to cope with daily life. There might be a wide range of therapy available but this depends on the center that you are attending.
  • Family – depending on your circumstances, there could be the option for family therapy sessions. This is to help you and your family to work together to avoid becoming addicted again.
  • Aftercare – While you are staying for your course, there will be the opportunity to plan your aftercare. This could be using the outpatient facility or attending the local Narcotics Anonymous.

What will happen while you are in the center will depend on the facilities that the center has available. If a center is more luxurious, it could have an excellent range of health and welling resources. However, every place that has a rehabilitation center will have the basic facilities to ensure that you can detox safely.

Does treatment stop after the stay?

When it comes to staying in a center, the treatment does not end on the last day. As you move forward, you will have the option of attending the outpatients to help support you. If there is one thing that you need to remember, it is that you will be experiencing new challenges. Your brain needs to rewire itself after being addicted to a substance. Aftercare is an important part of the programs and this can be carried out in an outpatient facility. While you are staying in the facility, you will have to decide on the type of aftercare that you would like after your program. The options that are available to you in your local area will be discussed with you at that time.

Should I have a longer or shorter program?

This is one of those impossible questions that is hard to answer. The easiest thing to do when it comes to the length of your stay is to choose a smaller one. If you discover that you need a longer stay, you can arrange this as the end of your time. This is unless you have health issues. The decision to stay for longer may be made by one of your team if they feel that you would benefit from a longer stay. This will be discussed during your stay if you need to stay longer.

As you can see, the programs available do not need a great amount of preparation from you. You just need to show up and give it your best shot. If you have any questions about how we can help you or your loved one with an addiction, get in touch, our friendly staff is waiting to hear from you.
